Session 69: The Lord's Supper

What a great week we had in SS this past Sunday. 58 in attendance and a great job by all of you guys with the birthday party for Jesus. This week is a BUSY week for everyone. But... this lesson is EXTREMELY important. So, I am asking each of you to not take this one lightly. I know you will be pressed for time, but please take the time to focus on the lesson. How fitting that we had the Lord's Supper this past Sunday night. I would have to say that I believe this is one of the best services we have at church. It is a serious time of reflection and remembrance. The videos are real good this week. Take the time to watch them and even use them in your class this week. What about it? Who wants to lead off and discuss this topic? Let me know what you think. Take the time to explain to our students the importance and significance of this event and also why it is a reverent time in God's house. Sound off!!!

During biblical times a young man and his father would go to the house of the bride he had chosen. The girls father would negotiate a steep price for his daughter. Once agreed upon, the young man's father would pour a cup of wine and hand it to his son. The son would turn and offer it to his bride saying "this is my life, I give to you. Will you marry me?" The bride had the option of excepting the cup or turning it down.

Jesus said "Do this in remembrance of me." It's so easy to look at this from a past tense perspective. In reality, we should remember what He has done, what He is doing, and what He will do. Now for the controversial question......Judas Iscariot was certainly present at the Passover meal, but did he participate in
"The Lord's Supper" ? Ane by the way what difference does it make?

I liked what the writer had to say when we are to evaluate ourselves. He wrote, "May God grant us the ability to be honest in our evaluations of ourselves and our relationships with other people. May He also grant us the humility and grace that we need to restore relationships with other believers who are estranged from us." I began to think...
