Session 81: Resurrection

Resurrection power! What an awesome thing to think about. We serve an awesome God who is still in the miracle business. When we think of our dead bodies reuniting with our spirit, we know without a doubt that this is a miracle from God. There will be a lot of questions to be answered this week about the lesson. But, one thing is for sure, I DO NOT know all of the answers. We must take what we know and leave the rest, by faith, in the hands of God. The writer of this weeks lesson begins by saying everyone will one day be bodily resurrected-some to eternal life, some to judgment. I would love to be a fly on the wall one day when the graves begin to bust open. As in the days of Noah, many will call on God on this day. Secondly, we see that our resurrection body will be different in nature from our earthly body. The writer pointed out that we know Jesus could eat. Now we know for sure he was a baptist! Your students will ask questions like: Will we know each other? Will we be married? Will we be able to carry on conversations as we do today? They will be curious about the future. What will your answers be? Finally, our resurrection body will be like Jesus' body. We strive here on earth to be more like Him. This tells me that we will have perfect bodies. I think of my brother in law who only has one hand. He will be made whole! The blind will see. The lame will walk. The deaf will hear. Miracle after miracle, we serve an awesome God. What will you do for Him this day?

Using the incident of Jesus and His resurrected body we find that He challenged Thomas to put his finger in his side and in His hand. This was done in order to identify Jesus as the one who actually hung on the cross. So, with that evidence, where else do we see that I will be different than I am now? I've got scars on my right forearm and a torn bicep, will they be gone?

From a personal standpoint I could care less what I look like, just take this wickedness from my heart. Let me go through a day without a sinful thought. I would trade an arm or leg for that.

Stephen Bene says, "Personally, I can't wait to get my "ressurection body" because the one I have now is way to big and cumbersome! Seriously though, I do look forward to getting a new body one day because of all the things it won't have. It won't be full of sin...sinful thoughts, sinful actions, sinful comments, sinful reactions...none of that will be present in our "new" bodies. It also won't have pain, or stress, or scars, and won't ever get tired. I won't ever worry again. I won't feel the effects of time on my "new" body either.

Of course, the best part about having the "new" body is the fact that when I get it I will be living in heaven with Jesus! AMEN! Thank You Jesus for giving me Your salvation from my sins through Your shed blood on the cross!Thank You Jesus for Your ressurection 3 days later that gives eternal life to all who believe! HALLELUJAH!"

It will be great to have a new body. No more worrying so I guess I will finally be able to break my bad habit of biting my fingernails and I will no longer be tormented by the scale. That sounds so great. The last couple of lessons have got me thinking about heaven a lot but also about some people in my life who will not get to experience the wonder of it all unless they get saved. One of my close friends came by work today and was telling me about the day her mother died (which was in January). She said her mom was ready and had been talking to her father (who passed away 2 years earlier) constantly – as she dozed in and out. She told her –Cathy can you see how bright it is in here—it is so bright. Only a few hours later she passed away. Cathy said, when she took her last breath she had the biggest smile on her face that she ever seen. She died as Beulah Land was playing –guess she finally got to visit. That’s what I am waiting for witnessing while awake to finally get to enjoy the dream.

Crystal your story reminds me of the Dairyman's Daughter. It is a true tale from the 1800's. Very beautiful story, kinda long but worth the read. Here is a site, if anyone is interested. http://www.gracegems.org/SERMONS2/dairymans_daughter.htm
You will probably have to copy and paste into your URL.

My brothers sister-in-law passed away this week and Victor spoke at her funeral. She had been very sick over the last 5 years. She asked Victor one day why didn't God just heal her? Victor replied he did not know, but he told her he did notice how when she was healthy she wondered away from church and did not care much for Christian things, but when she was sick she got closer to God, so maybe He enjoys your fellowship. She was reflective for awhile then replied "better sick and Heaven, than healthy and hell".
