Session 90:Humanism
Holiday weekend, start early. That was my thoughts on this week. I better start on Saturday night since I have a busy week. I hope each of you have a great Memorial Day holiday weekend. Humanism is our topic for the week. Humanists believe it is our responsibility to lead meaningful lives for the greater good of others without any involvement from God. Wow! No God? How would we make it? Just think...one day these guys will bow down before our Master. Secular humanists, generally, are atheists. They believe God is a big myth. They are believers in the fact that there is no authorative figure but only what reason and science can prove. There is no higher basis for authority or morality. Because God does not exist, any concept of divine revelation is rejected, and only human reason defines truth. They also believe there is no absolute truth. We realize that He is the way, the TRUTH and the life. He is absolute truth. Since humanists are committing the sin of worshipping self, they believe the human is a highly evolved animal. At the top of the evolutionary scale, they believe humankind can improve life for all people. We believe we are the prize creation of almighty God! Jesus was just a man to humanists. Some even believe that Jesus never existed. Also, there is no life after death. These guys are way out there. I would hate to know that I depended on me for the betterment of life. I completely trust Christ with my life here and in the hereafter. What can you find to teach us more than we have in the lesson material? ...

STephen Bene' says, No one is an atheist for philosophical reasons. The only reason why someone believes there is no God is because they know if there is a God then they must do what He says. Plain and simple. Atheists are just selfish people who are trying to justify their selfishness. Why else would someone believe that man has "evolved" over billions of years by himself. Evolution was Darwins way of trying to prove that man could exist without God. Even Darwin admits that evolution is not plausible or viable.
Humanists think that if they say God does not exist enough times then they are right about God. Well, just because you say you're a Big Mac a million times does not make you a Big Mac. Truth is truth and fiction is fiction.
God is real and He is the Creator of everything. As Creator He has the right and the authority to say what is right and what is wrong. Humanists don't want someone else telling them what is right and what is wrong. They think they have a choice in the matter. They think that if they say God doesn't exist then He will just go away. They will be sadly mistaken because one day, "every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord."
What a glorious day that will be for those who claim Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior! Hallelujah! What an incredibly sad day for all of those disillusioned people who think there is no God. The thought of spending on second without God, much less all of eternity without Him, is unbareable.
Penn Gillette, atheist and the talking part of Penn and Teller said recently in his video blog, "If you truly believe there is a heaven and a hell, and that those who don't believe in God are going to hell, how much must you hate me if you think I'm going to hell and don't share your faith with me." (paraphrase from You Tube: "Penn gets a Bible") WOW! An atheist giving evangelism tips! He's right though. We must share our faith, if we chose not to then Ezekiel 33:8 tells us that the lost person's "blood is on your hands."
Ghandi said that if he had ever seen a Christian truly living out their faith then he might have considered becoming a Chirstian. IS that how the people who see you and me each day feel? I hope not but it's probably more true than I want to believe. We all have opportunities every day to live out our faith. Let's make the most of each of those opportunities so that humanists cannot use us as examples of why they DON'T believe in God or Christianity.
Although a humanist is certainly an atheist, humanism is much more subtle than atheism, and therefore much more dangerous. In other words, a spider is considerably more dangerous than a snake, because the snake is more visible. While atheists openly disclaim the existence of God, the humanist belief system and practices, simply excludes God from everyday reality. We may not readily recognize humanism as quickly as atheism. Humanist portray mankind as basically good. This popular view of mankind is of strong influence to our modern culture. If we’re not careful, we mistake the humanistic lifestyle for one of compassion, concern, and care for humanity. Even we Christians can develop humanistic practices. Ever heard one of the following comments? Perhaps you’ve said them?
“you can do anything you set your mind to”
“you’ve got your whole life ahead of you”
“trust yourself, you know more than you think”
Humanism dethrones our God and deifies man. It puts us in charge of our past present and future. We find it difficult to believe that in the battle for the mind of modern men, humanism now confronts Christianity at every turn, and most definitely has a greater influence now, than ever. Biblical morality continues to decline and Christians continue to question why. The very fibers of humanism now control our school systems. Humanistic philosophies exist within our legal institutions, and yes, even our churches.
We who claim to be Christians have accepted the fundamental changes that humanism has made in our culture, by choosing to do NOTHING. (If we’re not growing, we’re dying) It is our responsibility to rise against it, in an intentional manner, and to restore Christian principals to our society.
whoops
"principles" not "principals"
