Session91: Scientology

Scientology! Now this is a weird one. Scientologists believe that the basic problem with humans is engrams. They use and e meter to remove these. Well... I got to thinking... and I came up with a good youth fundraiser for us to try. John, the electrician out of the bunch, could probably come up with something that kind of favors an e meter and we could set the youth hall up as a psych ward and could remove all the negativity from all these lunatics. What you think? We could make lots of money. We would have enough money to pay for everybody to go to camp, YEC, whatever. I mean really, think about it, these people are paying big money to be a part of this cult and we have people who grumble over tithing. I am not going in to all the details of the lesson this week. I would encourage you to check out the bonus video on your DVD. It deals with scientology as well. Also check out this site: http://www.dare2share.org/culturecommission/tom-cruise/ This deals with how to witness to scientologists. Dare2share is a good site to check out for dealing with all religions or cults. Please blog and share some interesting facts with us that you have discovered this week.

What I've read so far, only the rich can be Scientologist. What's wrong with that picture?
Also, I agree with Billy..we could make some big bucks just doing something stupid like this.
This is by far the one movement or cult that would be the easiest to dismiss due to the far out ideas.
As I study I'll get back to you!

Scientology is a hybrid of science fiction and magic. Ron Hubbards ideas and philosophies that make up the cult, come from Aleister Crowley, a friend and mentor of Mr. Hubbards. Mr. Crowley is the most famous performer of black magic, and most well known Satanist of the 20th century. Mr. Crowley claimed to be the antichrist incarnate. Ron Hubbard was also associated with Jack Parsons, an assistant to Mr. Crowley. At some point Hubbard and Parsons performed satanic rituals together. These rituals included all types of sexual immoralities. In one ritual they attempted to incarnate the “scarlet woman” described in the Book of Revelation. This is just another warped guy that decided to create his own religion to suit his own twisted ideas, which included getting rich. Are there any limits to what people will believe?

I went to the Scientology website and it is all about a better life. Survival is talked about a lot. Stress and negative thoughts and past experiences make you act the way you do but it is not your fault and you are not in error or bad. As a matter of fact all people are good. The church looks like a lot of classes and counseling that they call auditing. You can come in a talk and learn and drink coffee all day long. It is all about a better you. Mental Health is talked about a lot too. They are anti-drug and all about Human Rights. And there is a whole book about how to be happy! God is even mentioned briefly. They really want you to buy their books. Some of the terminology is difficult to follow, too. There is a whole video of how "great" the founder was and how smart he was. Very interesting. I can see how some people that are searching would be attracted to this.

John, as a side note; Jimmy Page, lead guitarist for Led Zepplin purchased Allister Crowley's castle and used it on their 4th album. He was into the occult and magic. If you read much into occultism of all kinds, I seem to see a common denominator being sex. I read before that Crowley and Parson actually kept the girl as a sex slave while trying to incarnate the scarlet women.

Vickie, the lesson is about Scientology, not Joel O'Steen.
