Session 11: Joseph
I hope this blog entry finds each of you doing well. To inform you, I have held the signup for YEC over until this Sunday. Due to the holiday weekend, I felt the need to give the kids one more week to sign up. Please encourage all of your kids to see me this Sunday and put their name down on the list. This week the blog will be lead off by one of YOU! Who wants to blog? Don't be afraid to start if off. You may have an unanswered question, a good point to share, or a challenge for the rest of us. I will be checking back in to see the responses. Who will be a leader and go first?

This lesson reminded me that we should view God’s hand not only in His goodness and mercy to us, but in our afflictions and trials as well. Although we can’t undo our sins, nor the consequences of them, we can look to the almighty God ,on many occasions, to counteract or mitigate the evil effects of them. Now I’m not saying that God alters the nature of sin or the pain we experience from it. Sin is still sin, and the penalty is death. Poison does not cease to be poison just because it can also be used medicinally. I believe the story about Joseph and his brothers proves that God through His prerogative, can allow good to come from man’s evil. I guess the real question is…………If God can use the sinfulness of man for something wonderful, although He hates sin……how much more can He use the faith and obedience of a Christian?
Ok Billy, I’m guessing initiative is what you’re looking for this week. Here goes……..I think it would be a great idea for all the youth teachers to have a “get together”. Maybe, share a meal, play a game, or bowling, or fishing, or a cruise, or paintball, or laser tag, or four wheeler riding, weekend at the Dilliard House? What about it? Any ideas, teachers? Please answer the following questions……..What? Where? When? Oh, I think it’s safe to say, we’ll need to fund it apart from the youth budget. I'll assume those that don't answer, aren't interested.
This week I am overwhelmed at the amount of scriptures to cover. I already have a hard enough time getting to the end, but then after studing this lesson... I'm not in control, God is. "I" wanted to make sure that in Gen 37 that, "God has a unque way of preparing His people for the trials they WILL encounter." Then in Gen 39, "I" wanted to make sure that, "Joseph greatest concern was offending God. That he had such an intimate walk with God that he could not bear the thought of hurting Him for the sake of a moment's pleasure." Then in Gen 41, "It is not our position, our power, OR our pennies that enable us to do great things for God. It is the power of the Holy Spirit within us - nothing more and nothing less." The list keeps going for Chapters 42, 45, 50. Then I look back at the what the writer wanted us to teach about God developing Josephs' character and still there is too much good in these scriptures to skip over. Since "I" seem to be stressing a little over this, I am going to let God teach this Sunday and not me!!!
Okay, John, on the get together... I totally agree. Of course the cruise comes to mind first, ha ha.
Don't forget we can do an overnighter at the children's home at some time. But yes, let's do something.
