The Samaritan Woman

John 4:1-42 (click on title and it will take you to Study Bible) I was going to start off with "Man what a great lesson" then I remembered I do that with every lesson it seems. But once again I see so many Applications from this one story. Remember, Observation(read), Interpretation (how did the reader at that time understand what was said), Application (how do I apply this to my life today)
1. Jesus ignores social customs
2. How Jesus shared the Gospel (she broke God's Law, needed a Savior, )
3. Jesus is Soveriegn (He can count the hairs on your head, or how many times you been married)
4. Place of Worship (Brick & Mortar, House Church?)
5. Progressive Revelation concerning Torah, OT, and now NT
6. Nature of Worship (Spirit & Truth)
7. Regenerated People (what did this women do after her encounter with the Lord)
The last part is one of my favorites. In about a month you should be reminded of this verse daily. Most scholars think Jesus was talking about the ripened fields around them, but some say He was talking about them as well as the towns people walking towards them in their linen white robes. Cotton is heavy with boles and will be opening up before long. Every year it is a great reminder of the Harvest Field set before us. Praying for you guys, have a great Sunday!
