#62 Feeding a Crowd and Walking on Water

Mark 6:30-44 "When He went ashore He saw a great crowd, and He had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd" I am about to use this blog as a soap box. Since I'm not teaching youth, but do this just cause I really like Love you guys, I feel a little entitled to do so.

I try to ask God to keep me open to what He is doing in my life. Because I am dumb, I often see it afterwards. One of my most often ask questions to God, when something happens, is "OK, God what is that about?" I have read, heard, and witnessed several incidents lately that are leading me to the conclusion that God is pointing me towards those who are somewhat less than myself, by this worlds standards. A while back Billy and I were talking about the seemingly social economic type of people that we were seeing attend our church lately. I have thought about this and have come to the conclusion that our church is starting to look like the community. Screven is not a middle class yuppie haven like FBCS has been for years. Folks, it is all over the 4 Gospels if you start looking for it. It's not about the Drawdy's and the Miller's.(the reason I use these 2 families is because they will admit they have plenty of money that God has blessed them with to use for other purposes. What about you? Will you even admit it?) I want to leave you with one story;

Vickie and I were in Home Depot picking out a door for the house. In walks Richard Strickland and Gary (the guy with the speech impediment who lives with his girlfriend. They want to get married and don't have a pot to pee in. Gary has been scraping, not sure what she does. They both have been coming to church) I ask them what they were up to. Richard said they come down to get some 4" sewer pipe and fittings, that Jesup was out of, to hook up the sewer on Gary's camper. The back story that Richard doesn't know that I know, is Richard gave Gary his old camper so he could have a place of his own and move out of his Mother and Step fathers house(folks I know well cause I put them in jail before). My first thought was "I like Gary, but don't know that I want to ride to Brunswick and back with him." May my God have mercy on me, but Paul Drawdy is about to change his ways.

There are a lot of people in our church that do things for people and you never know about it. They will and are blessed by God. I only know some of them because I worked part time at the church office for 2 years. When you work up there, you learn about people. This is why the Sharing Place is such a great ministry. Also, taking the children's home girls shopping, etc. Vickie

I have been working at SES in pre-k for 3 weeks. It is eye-opening what some of those 4 years olds know and the situations they live in! Then, some are really great kids. Some are begging for attention! Vickie
